Cured cases with Classical Homeopathy

(Excerpt from the book "Homeopathy - Medicine for the New Millennium" by Prof. G. Vithoulkas)

Here we shall describe some dramatic cases cured by good classical homeopathy but the reader should not get the idea that homeopathy, since it can cure such deep pathology cases, can cure everything. As we have stressed so far the treatment for each individual case is different, requires an investigation that is completely special for the organism under consideration, and the therapeutic result depends on the capacity of the immune system to respond to the highly energized remedy.

A case in a coma for three months after an aorta transplant and a rejection process

The first case refers to a man, 74 year old, Mr. Stathopoulos, a Greek civil engineer who was operated in the cardiological department of Houston, USA, in 1979 for an aorta transplant by the famous Greek Cardiologist Dr. Boulafentis. A rejection process started soon after the operation and the man soon fell in to a comatose state. After two months of being unconscious he was transferred to the Athens hospital Hygia, where he remained in to coma for another month. At this stage he was taking strong allopathic medication including the antifungal drug amphotericine D. His vascular system was in a terrible state, his kidneys were breaking down, his blood pressure was very high and he was attended by two cardiologists, an internist and a nephrologist.

All his extremities were swollen and bluish from the repeated intravenous salines with the medication. After all this lapse of time and taking in to consideration his serious condition the doctors became desperate and called the daughter, an architect, and her husband, an assistant professor in the Athens University, to tell them that this was all they could do and there was nothing more to be done in his case. According to their estimation the man had one or two days to live.

At this point his daughter with her husband being good friends of mine came to consult me about the desperate condition of their father, and to ask me whether homeopathy could do something for the old man.

My initial reaction was of course negative but all the same I went with them to the hospital to see his condition myself.

After looking at his case I thought that there was a ray of hope and I said I would take up the case if the doctors of the hospital agreed to suspend all allopathic medication except the intra-nasal feeding.

In seven days his consciousness returned and in twelve days from the beginning of the homeopathic treatment he asked us to take him home and we did, not with an ambulance but by the car of the professor.

One month later the man was so well that the only thing left was swelling of his ankles. I then asked him to call the cardiologist to give us his opinion about his swollen ankles. The cardiologist arrived and the patient opened the door. The doctor not recognizing the patient said "I am the cardiologist and I came to see Mr. Stathopoulos", the patient replied "I am Mr. Stathopoulos" the doctor insisted "not you the patient" and Mr. Stathopoulos now replied, "I am the patient". The cardiologist, after finding the patient in very good condition telephoned me later on and said "you made a small miracle". The man lived for another ten years in good health, driving his car till the end of his life, and died suddenly within a few days at the age of 84 after a brain stroke.

A case of progressed gangrene in a hospital in Germany where preparations were done to amputate both her legs on the height of the thighs

The next case is an equally dramatic one: referred to me during a course I was giving in Celle, Germany to a fairly big group of doctors and concerned a woman who developed gangrene and was in a hospital in Celle, Germany, pending an operation during which they were intending on amputating both her legs on the height of the thighs.

The daughter of the patient who is a medical doctor and a student of homeopathy made an appeal during the first day of the course saying that her mother was in the town hospital ready to be operated in three days, and since I was there could I do something for her mother.

The appeal was done in front of three hundred homeopathic physicians and it was a big challenge. Could homeopathy do something in such a short time, in legs that the arteries were so closed as to allow gangrene to develop in a patient suffering for years with diabetes?

The most interesting thing was that during their routine examinations in the hospital they found out that this woman was also suffering with Adenocarcinoma of the lungs, and such a diagnosis made the prognosis extremely bleak.

I took the case in June 89 on Friday in the hospital, and the patient was programmed for operation on next Tuesday Therefore we had only three days to show some effect on the circulation of her legs in order to persuade the doctors of the hospital to postpone the operation.

I presented the pictures of her legs and the case to the class with the analysis of the case and the prescription of the homeopathic remedy that she started taking on Friday noon.

The excitement in the class was tremendous, and the elation of all the doctors of the course was great when we heard on Tuesday morning that the operation was postponed due to the fact that the popliteal artery showed some signs of functioning again. In another week the patient was discharged from the hospital bearing with both her legs.

The treatment continued for two years, after which the patient reported to be quite well. I stopped seeing the patient after that.

In 1999 I wanted to present this case in a medical symposium in Greece with the participation of a group of distinguished professors of medicine. I therefore asked my secretary in July 1999 to contact the daughter of the woman to give us a report. The report arrived at... and says as follows.

The dramatic atmosphere during the treatment of this case, within the course hall, is difficult to be reported, and the case looks incredible but the three hundred participants to the seminal can surely testify about it. A Polish surgeon who was attending the course got up and said that he could testify that he himself had operated and amputated hundreds of similar cases in Poland. Furthermore, the case and its progress has been recorded on video and is available to any medical authority that might be interested.

A case of cancer of the head of pancreas with metastasis in the liver

In June 1995 a case with the above diagnosis was presented to an international group of doctors in the International Academy of Classical Homeopathy. He is a painter who was operated on and was told that he was going to live a few months more. Homeopathic treatment started immediately. His laboratory liver tests were really bad. After a lot of ups and down in the first year of treatment the patient was steadily improving all these years and in May 1999 all his laboratory examinations returned back to normal. The patient is in excellent health, happy, working full time for the last three years, and says that his health is as good as ever. He is still under treatment.

This case was also witnessed by 300 doctors and is also recorded on video. Needless to say that the story, which is given here, is only a very compact resume of the real case that has taken hours of investigation and analysis before the indicated treatment was finalized.

A case of adenocarcinoma of the liver

During the September 1998 course of the Italian Doctors in the International Academy of Classical homeopathy in Alonissos a case of cancer of the liver was presented by one of the students of a veterinary doctor 58 years old who was diagnosed as adenocarcinoma of the liver. A famous Italian professor of oncology who attended the case pronounced the case incurable and told the wife of the patient, who is also a medical doctor, the statistics show that such cases have a survival rate of 78 (seventy eight) days.

The patient is still alive after 2 years of homeopathic treatment. But the important thing is that he feels great, his mood and energy are excellent and his laboratory tests are normalizing. He is still under homeopathic treatment.

Except of the witnessing from 120 medical doctors who attended the courses this case is also recorded on video and is available for scrutiny and discussion by any interested medical authority.

A case of neurodermatitis complicated with celiac sprue (malabsorption syndrome)

A case of severe neurodermatitis in a child 2 years old which started after BCG vaccination complicated with celiac sprue (malabsorption syndrome)

This case was presented to me in 1990 in Celle in a course attended by 200 doctors. The child was suffering extremely in spite of the fact that he had a diet free of gluten. The itching was almost constant and the eruption was spread all over his body. After 6 moths of treatment the child remains well since today.

Just because these few cases may look anecdotal, it is important the reader understands that in the 40 years of my practice of homeopathy I have seen more than 150.000 cases, a great percentage of them came to see me after allopathic medicine had failed to provide a cure or alleviation of the suffering. I can easily claim that most of them were benefited by the homeopathic treatment.

Epilogue: about the cases

It is also true that these are extreme cases that do not consist in the everyday practice of a homeopath. It is also true that many other cases that look like the ones I have presented here would not have responded in the same way for reasons that I cannot explain in this little treatise. Yet what can be said for sure is that homeopathy could have prevented a lot of cases going in to deep pathology, it could have alleviated the suffering of many chronically ill patients and could have regenerated an increasingly degenerating western society that had had so far the best possible medical treatment yet perhaps the main reason for such degeneration are the chemical drugs themselves that were supposed to cure the diseases.

Homeopathy has not given the seriousness it deserves from medical authorities and governmental agencies, and I feel when suddenly its worth will be discovered the whole world will turn towards it with an unprecedented hysteria expecting much more that it can deliver.

Homeopathy is very difficult in its learning and practicing, and requires a kind of dedication on the part of the physician who undertakes to learn it properly and practice it professionally Insurance companies together with governments should pay more attention and money in to a really good education that doctors are needed in order to show the results.

Case 8:

A 45-year-old woman consulted Dr Rajan Sankaran for severe eczema on both her legs, which were oozing and painful for the past 2-3 months. She was so disabled that she could not go anywhere. She said that her skin problem could be psychological and that she was suffering from tension. On a query she said that it had nothing to do with her husband, but was related to her family. As she was not forthcoming, the doctor asked about her dreams. She was getting recurring dreams of stools, passing stools or stools lying around. Finally she said: "I have a son who is mentally retarded and he also gets convulsions. Every time he gets convulsions, that night I dream of stools. During pregnancy I had a dream that there were lots of stools and the head of the child was coming out of it, and somebody, God knows who, was pushing it back. At that time I knew that the child would not be okay". Doctor noticed that when the patient was narrating this dream, her eyes were moving fast. (See case No 7 had same eye-movement). She added: "I feel I could have avoided it. I could have done something."

It was clear that she was feeling guilty for having given birth to a handicapped child and hence was hiding this fact from her office staff and avoided social contacts and did not go on holiday trips allowed under her job, as a perk. She looked after her child, as she thought that she alone was responsible, though her husband was helpful. She was very efficient in office. Dr Rajan Sankaran prescribed Cyclamen, which cured her.

This is another beautiful case where the essence of the remedy is clearly brought out. The patient was bottling up her grief in having a handicapped child for very long (Grief, undemonstrative); her conscience was bothering her as if she had committed a crime (terrors of conscience, which were very marked in this case); The other rubrics such as Delusion, she is a criminal (rapid movement of her eyes and inability to make eye contact with the doctor); Delusion, she has done wrong; Indisposed to talk; Delusion that she has neglected her duty and reproaches herself (I could have done something during pregnancy) reflect the same feeling. Going out of home: aversion to, and company: aversion to are the rubrics reflecting her own method of atonement.

Case 9:

A 65 year old woman consulted Dr Logan for depression, panic attacks, indigestion, a sore mouth and a permanent bad taste; a mapped tongue with a fissure. She was too nervous to travel out of her hometown on her own. She felt exhausted and despondent and woke up every day feeling drained and unenthusiastic. She had dark rings under her eyes and had been taking Valium for years.

She was depressed and grief stricken because she lost her husband, her sister, and a close aunt during the course of last five years; besides, her daughter was having trouble with her marriage. She felt very alone in her grief and found it impossible to share her grief with anyone even if she had an opportunity. (Grief: undemonstrative and feeling forsaken) She was upset about allowing herself to fall sick like that, as she put it. (Reproaches herself) She described herself in work as "far too conscientious for her own good" and elaborated by saying that "she hated letting people down". (Conscientious about trifles). She also said that her moods alternated a lot (moods alternating); she was constantly analyzing herself and her actions. (Introspection). Initially, the doctor gave Natrum-mur in varying potencies but it did not relieve. The patient also had other remedies such as Aurum, Ignatia, Puls, Lyco and Muriatic- acid which seemed indicated but did not help the patient at all.

When the indicated remedy Cyclamen was given there was noticeable change. She was less depressed and had more energy and no panic attacks. She got up feeling refreshed and did not think about how she is feeling, the way in which she used to do earlier. Her sore mouth was also much better

Case 10:

A lady consulted Dr Rajan Sankaran for sciatica and the severe pain she was having. She was a college professor and a very sincere worker. She alleged that her senior was harassing her in many ways. Her good manners, sincerity to work, and suppressed anger indicated Staphysagria but it did not work. At the next consultation she said "This pain is troubling me so much, it is not allowing me to do my duty". As she felt that her illness was preventing her from discharging her duties, the doctor took the following rubrics:

"Delusion, that she is persecuted"; "Delusion, that she has neglected her duty"; "Anxiety of conscience, as if guilty of a crime". He prescribed Cyclamen which cured her of pain immediately

Dr Clarke draws special attention to the usefulness of the remedy in menstrual troubles. Menses more copious, more frequent; too early, with severe abdominal pains; accompanied with labour-like pains; flow excessive, black and clotted; secretion from the swollen mammae, like milk; menses suppressed. Clarke also refers to cases of other Homoeopaths where the menstrual troubles were associated with chlorosis, with vertigo, and headaches, and with diplopia.

Case 11:

A 24-year blonde girl, with pale skin and lips, had menstruated till the age of 22, got wet during a picnic one day, just when her menses were to start. It stopped at once and was delayed for 10 months. Now the periods were late and came every two or four months, always with pains, starting at the sacrum, extending along to both sides of abdomen, and to the pelvis; and menses accompanied by terrible abdominal labour-like pains lasting for several hours. Eyes were slightly edematous, with pressing pain in forehead and vertigo; chilliness of the whole body and disturbed and unrefreshing sleep with terrible dreams; continued loathing for meat; and vomiting in the morning. Puls gave only partial relief, but Cyclamen made a complete cure, as its provings contained all these symptoms. She developed ocular symptoms which were untouched by Puls, but cured with Cyclamen 15x. She also developed a hallucination as if two persons lay in her bed and that the body of the other overlapped hers by half. It ceased when the remedy was discontinued
-Quoted by Dr Clarke In his Dictionary

Case 12:

In the case of a 16 yr. old girl, the menses got delayed and then ceased. She lost her spirits, wanted to be alone and was offended by trifles; no inclination to do her usual work and she could not be persuaded to leave her house for a walk. She would sleep unusually late in the morning. Complained of great lassitude forcing her to rest frequently; palpitation without cause; more interested in seclusion and then she would weep. During the forenoon, there was vertigo and pressing pain in her head. She was prescribed Cyclamen 15x and after a few weeks her headache and vertigo became less and menses returned and was regular thereafter.

FOLLOW THE SIMILAR RULE

Whatever the disease; we Homoeopaths should follow the rule of "Similia Similibus Curentar and it will lead to the cure of the patient.

My experience

A 55 year old female complained of pain on swallowing and difficulty in speaking with hoarseness. She used to have frequent colds and was very sensitive to cold air. On examination, there was a hard indurated swelling on the right side of the palate, diagnosed as Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the palate.

Treatment

Based on the characteristic symptoms, we started treatment with Aur-ars 200 1 dose on the basis of the right-sided Cancerous induration aggravation on touch with loathing of life; and Hydrastis Q Cancer palate (KR 398) - Aur hydr, but these drugs gave little relief in spite of administration in various potencies.

For acute colds, we prescribed Merc-iodatus-flavus which gave her a little relief. To eradicate the sensitiveness, we gave Hep-sulph 200 1 dose (sensation of splinter and right sided remedy). After Hepar, the hard swelling started reducing and an ulcer of the cervical gland appeared which drained the cancerous matter along with pus and blood. The growth reduced in size, restored the voice and swallowing was easier.

On the basis of the appearance of an ulcer of the gland with punched out edges, we prescribed Kali-bich 200 1 dose which gave great relief to the patient. Thus, Hepar-sulph, usually thought of only in acute cases, led the case in a curative direction, because of similarity of symptoms.
